The origin story behind my PokerCoaching crossover…

Today I wanna tell you the behind-the-scenes story as to how my PokerCoaching crossover events with Jonathan Little came to pass and it all starts out with some controversy…

The first controversy you’re probably very well aware of as it was a fairly public ordeal.

Jonathan, at his most brazen and controversial, had the audacity to warn folks about keeping too much money on America’s Card Room so that they didn’t wake up and realize their funds turned into ash overnight…

I mean, if a poker platform had ever blatantly ripped off their customers even once in the history of poker I could understand Jonathan’s position.

But to outright advise his massive following to be careful in such a secure and regulated market like online poker, well…

That was just totally out of line and ACR was totally justified in banning him for life.

The 2nd controversy is lesser known unless you’re Tommy Angelo or a big fan of poker Twitter, in which case, you probably remember it as well because…

Your super-far-sighted poker coach decided to run what he thought would be a fun little “Poker Book Challenge” using Twitter polls (#PokerGOAT) to celebrate many of the folks who I look up to as personal heroes.

As it turns out, I overlooked one tiny little detail:

Authors REALLY care about their books. Like in a “publicly call me an idiot because I randomly chose matchups instead of separating narrative from strategy” kind of way.

If you’re wondering which of these great poker authors whom I look up to so much called me an idiot, you’ll never get me to talk.

All I’ll say is that it’s positively the fifth poker author that comes to your mind. His home probably rests on a street as well.

Anyway…

Mr. PokerCoaching himself made it to the finals against the one and only Maria Konnikova and all hell broke loose. Jonathan was publicly accused of buying Twitter votes so that he could win a competition where there was literally zero prize.

At first your courageous poker coach chose to ignore the allegations…

Mostly because I thought the whole ordeal was more than a little silly.

Then my own personal poker Superhero Erik Seidel got in on the accusation action and I had to release a public statement.

Here’s the unofficial transcript:

“WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE THE WHOLE POINT WAS TO PROVIDE SOME PUBLICITY FOR AUTHORS AND ENTERTAINMENT IN A TIME WHERE WE’RE ALL LOCKED INSIDE OUR HOMES LIKE CAGED ANIMALS …. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!”

Then I had Jonathan back on the podcast where we discussed his rockstar, anti-authority lifestyle in great detail.

After the recording ended Jonathan and I shot the shit, he invited me to make some content for PokerCoaching, and (after some reflection) I agreed to make one webinar and four quizzes every month.

Three of those webinars have been completed, including:

  • “High Impact Language Upgrades for Cash Games”
  • “Cash Game Learning Path”
  • “Cash Game Hand Reading Upgrades”

For my fourth go-around, I have chosen the simple title:

“The Enemy of Execution: The Invisible Stumbling Block that Blocks High Performance”

(Fun fact: I actually hate myself for using the word “Block” twice in the same title.)

…and it goes down LIVE on PokerCoaching.com this Thursday at 5 pm EST.

If you’d like to check it out so that you can unblock the invisible block that’s blocking your progress, here’s your link:
